About the time Mother recalled the correct name, she read a letter in that day’s mail from Jaynet informing her of their whereabouts and verifying the name of their friends. That was in February (2023). Sure enough-I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and I was put on steroids, heavy-duty steroids. And other stuff that had unpleasant side-effects.

There are people without a conscience, and sadly they do not experience joy either. They are not to be scorned but pitied.

I wanted to move to Austin. I spent the entire following summer working on getting another job, a job out of the classroom. I had a Master’s Degree and hoped it would open doors. Nothing. Not one interview. To say I was discouraged is an understatement.
