Sister Teresa of Avila lived in the 1500s, and yet her influence over me is timely. She wrote The Interior Castle. Caroline Myss wrote Entering the Castle, an Inner Path to God and Your Soul, based on Sister Teresa’s writings. This one book has brought me through a deeper spiritual journey than any other.
One day, out of the blue, a friend I knew not well brought this book to my door. She said she was “told” that I should have it. Times like this happen, and when they do, we ought to recognize the grace they bring. I devoured this book slowly and with a journal. It is deeply personal and not an easy chore to work your way through. I only recommend it to those who are genuinely ready to take a dive and be willing to grow, transform, and become the person God means for you to be.
If you have ever wanted to draw much closer to God than any church service will take you, I suggest you read and consume this book.
If you aren’t quite ready for this, I will be sharing others in the weeks to come.
I will include brief book reviews to show you where I’ve traveled on my spiritual journey.

I raised three children as a single mother before I remarried. In 2007 I founded SMORE for Women, a nonprofit whose goal is Single Moms, Overjoyed, Rejuvenated, and Empowered. I’m also a Certified Professional Coach and my stories have been published in several Christian books and magazines. My book, Living Learning Loving is available on Amazon. My Website.
