A Moment to Remember

Me with Dr. Alice Matoba

I was scheduled to have a cornea transplant on January 27th. The tissue was on the plane from California, and the payment had been made. At the pre-op appointment, they measured the swelling that had been serious in December. On this day, the doctor said, “This is rare! Your swelling has gone down. If it were me, I wouldn’t have this surgery.”

There are moments in life that we always remember clearly. This was one of those. I had dreaded having this surgery because I had two eye surgeries in the past and knew this one would be even more difficult to recover from.

We think that the diet and detox I had been on may have made the difference. As my grown children know, I’m always talking about what we eat. The Standard American Diet (SAD) is emerging as a factor in our overall health.

The accident that occurred ages ago is described in my bookLiving, Learning, Loving.

I’m beginning a new writing project. Topic: Keep Moving Forward with Insight. I want people to know about three of my students who are now grown women who are totally blind.
