Gail’s Personal Synchronicity & Plans for the Future

Austin, United States – February 17, 2014: People are seen meandering about outside the Main Building, known colloquially as The Tower, on the campus of the University of Texas. The tower is 307 feet tall and has 30 floors.

Way back in the 1980’s, I decided to get a Master’s Degree from the University of Texas. No easy feat with three kids under 10. I took one step at a time.

  1. Pass the GRE with the required score. I did not.
  2. Apply for admission with letters of recommendation. I did.
  3. Register
  4. Find summer childcare for three children.
  5. Find housing for the summer.

Each of these is a story in itself. Each step took a leap of faith. I could have given up easily and said, ‘This isn’t meant to be.’ But instead, I kept moving forward.

I’m a very persistent person. I graduated in 1986.

Diploma from the University of Texas at Austin, awarded to D'Anna Gail Cawley Parks for a Master of Arts degree, dated December 20, 1986.

In 1991, I was recruited to take a position as Teacher of the Visually Impaired for two school districts that had a state-approved co-op. I returned to UT for the certification. It was hard work, but the outcome was amazing.

I’m beginning a new writing project. Topic: Keep Moving Forward with Insight. I want people to know about three of my students who are now grown blind women.
