Which Voice Do You Hear?
Which voice is louder… the still small whisper of God’s voice within your heart or the voice of others around you? We’ve all heard that old saying time and time again, “Mama knows best!” We’ve also heard that sister or best friend declare what we should do in troublesome situations. Family and friends may truly believe they know what is best for your life, and I’m sure they mean well, but only God can guide you into your destiny.
The Bible says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). The Word of God clearly says that the Lord knows the plans He has for you, therefore only He can guide you into the right path. Never let the voices of others in your life drown out the voice of God within you. Refuse to be overwhelmed with the expectations of others, and choose to be connected to God and His plans for your life.
When a difficult time in your life emerges, resist the urge to call your friends or family members for advice. Make time to pray and ask God for His direction. After you have received instructions from Him, be steadfast and unmovable as you travel the path He has placed before you, even when others may not understand. It takes courage to step out on what the Lord has directed you to do especially when it breaks the traditions of family, friends, or church fellowship.
As you walk out this journey called life, you may sometimes feel alone and abandoned. Nevertheless, always remember that God is walking with you in good times and carrying you through bad times. He’s always covering you with His love. You, dear sister, are not alone! So whether you are making a decision to go back to school after many years, considering marriage, starting a new business, contemplating a career change, making tough decisions or seeking wisdom on raising your children, stay connected to the one who knows the plans for your life. He will lead you into the right direction. Keep your head up and follow that small voice within your heart into your destiny!

Very good advice. However, after much prayer, it is sometimes good to listen to what trusted others have to say. Take those thoughts back to the Lord. He often uses others to help us clarify our own thoughts and His words.
