True Self Discovery Without Selfishness

I have many books on my shelves. This one is important because it directs us to learning a major life lesson. From the book jacket – “Thomas Merton described as the one challenge on which all of life rests: to discover our true selves in discovering God, and to find more of God in finding more of our true selves. As you discover yourself in a new way on the Enneagram journey, you’ll also find that you are paving the way to the wiser, more compassionate person you want to become.”

Here ia a very brief synopsis of the nine types on the Enneagram taken from this book:

#1 The Perfectionist – Ethical, dedicated and reliable.

#2 The Helper – Warm, caring and giving.

#3 The Performer – Success-oriented, image-conscious, and wired for productivity.

#4 The Romantic – Creative, Sensitive and moody. They need to be understood.

#5 The Investigator – Analytical, detached and private.

#6 The Loyalist -Committed, practical and witty. They are thinkers.

#7 The Enthusiast – Fun, spontaneous and adventurous.

#8 The Challenger – Commanding, intense and confrontational. Need to be strong.

#9 The Peacemaker – Pleasant, laid-back and accomodating.

This may be repetitive information for some of you. However, when studying the Enneagram it is important not to rush through it.

In the future I will address the shadow sides of each personality. We all have at least one trait that we struggle with.

Learning this helped me identify my type when other information did not.
