Protect Your Home
After the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey last fall we are acutely aware of how quickly our houses can be demolished or severely damaged. I know so many who will be recovering for years to come. This makes me sad. There is no easy fix and the problems just continue to snowball. Some of you are in the middle of the mess and know exactly what I mean.
After raising three children who are now in their forties, I can honestly say it is even more important to protect your home, as in your family. I wish someone had told me: You are the protector. Your children need to know you have their back. They need to know you will stand with them when it seems – to them – as though the rest of the world has let them down. It is possible to be strong and firm and still let them know you have their heart and are holding it close to yours. You can do this!
I raised three children as a single mother before I remarried. I have experienced the potholes, pests, and perils of being the single head-of-household. As an educator in regular and special education for twenty years I know a great deal about child development and how to handle kids. I am the founder of SMORE for Women, a nonprofit whose goal is Single Moms, Overjoyed, Rejuvenated, and Empowered. I’m also a Certified Professional Coach and my stories have been published in several Christian books and magazines. My book, Living Learning Loving is available on Amazonand Barnes and Nobleonline.
