Empty Bowls-Recognizing World Food Day

Created by Dan Wheeler, an Oregon Potter

World Food Day

Today, October 16, 2017, is World Food Day. Single mothers, however, think about food every day. At least one-third of the single mothers and their children in the United States live in poverty.

Hurrican Harvey has left many without the basic needs of life. Some have no jobs to go to. Others can’t get back into their houses and may not for months to come.

I’m auctioning this bowl with the proceeds going to an Emergency Fund for Single Mothers at my church, Calder Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas.

Bids start at $30. Please increase at $5.00 increments. And I will have to add shipping to your bid if I have to mail it to you. You may keep track of the bidding on The SMORE Facebook page.

You may send your bids to gail@gailshowalter.com

As an educator in regular and special education for twenty years I know a great deal about child development and how to handle kids. I am the founder of SMORE for Women, a nonprofit whose goal is Single Moms, Overjoyed, Rejuvenated, and Empowered. I’m also a Certified Professional Coach and my stories have been published in several Christian books and magazines. My book, Living Learning Loving is available on CreateSpace, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble online.
