The Enneagram is a valuable tool for self awareness-essential for spiritual growth. Before you resist and suspect the enneagram of being something like a horoscope, let’s learn a little about this very old and unique way of studying our God-given natures/personalities.
This page includes an excellent explanation. To put it simply the enneagram is one way to identify personality types and how they may interact with others. Many Christian leaders have taught it. In fact, I learned it from a nun, Sr. Lois Dideon, at the Cenacle in Houston and the recordings and books of others. I am not a Catholic and yet I found her teaching appropriate and extremely valuable.
Whenever I feel frustrated or stuck the enneagram helps. It is simple and ingenious.
Knowing yourself makes everything, every decision, easier. There are other personality profiles. I’ve trained with the Wired That Way from the Littauers. It has served me well. My publisher, Kathryn Robbins, created a version as well, that you may want to try.
The enneagram goes deeper and you may want to consider it.
