Having fun may not be at the top of your list of priorities. You may not know when you will get the underwear washed. Having FUN, however, is important! It creates memories. It builds bonds which can carry you through many of life’s troubles. Here are a few ideas:
- Movie night at home. Make popcorn and have choices of toppings, make homemade lemonade and serve in fun glasses, spread quilts or blankets and pillows over the floor. (Keep a list of movies that are age appropriate for your children so you will be prepared.)
- Mark your calendar for upcoming community parades and festivals. Make plans in advance to attend with friends. Save coins to spend on the special event.
- Bake a Celebration Cake together. Celebrate birthdays, end of school year, a good report card, the shortest day of the year, the longest day of the year, anything you can think of.
- Go to public library. Get a library card if you don’t already have one. Notice any upcoming events.
